A little about me: Hi, I’m Idell Johnston. Originally from Fresno, California, my family and I relocated to Shawano in 2007—a decision we remain profoundly grateful for. Shawano is truly our home, and giving back to the community is a priority for us. I am actively involved in the Rotary Youth Exchange program, while my husband Michael, who works alongside me in the office, coordinates Shawano’s Toys for Tots program. Michael is also a member of the Shawano Optimists and a founding board member of 100 Men Who Care. In addition, I was honored to be the first Big Sister matched in Shawano’s Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter when it launched in 2014, and I have been a dedicated member of 100 Women Who Care since its inception in Shawano County. Our family has also served on boards for Shawano Dollars for Scholars, the Red River Riders, and the Shawano Business Improvement District for downtown Shawano. In recognition of our community involvement, Michael and I were named “Distinguished Citizens of the Year” by the Shawano Chamber of Commerce in 2021.

Our connection to Shawano continues through our family. Both of our sons graduated from Shawano High School and went on to attend college in Wisconsin. I am now a proud grandmother to two grandchildren who attend Shawano schools. Our eldest son, Grant, also works in the office and is often the friendly voice you hear when you call, making serving Good Neighbors a true family effort.
